BOIL BANOV - Minister of Culture

Banov was born on 26.05.1971 in Sofia. From 1978 he studied in the Seventh High school ‘The Seven Saints’, which he graduated in 1989.

 

Boil Banov graduated in ‘Drama Theater Directing’ from Krastyo Sarafov National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, where he earned a Master’s degree in 1999. He also studied at Sofia University ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’ in the field of ‘Cultural Studies’.

 

Banov has directed productions in various theaters in the country – “Ivan Vazov” National Theater, the “Tears and Laughter” Satirical Theater, “Ivan Dimov” Drama and Puppet Theater – Haskovo, etc. His most famous productions include: ‘At the Foot of Vitosha Mountain’ and ‘When Thunder Strikes’ by P. K. Yavorov, ‘Vampire’ by А. Strashimirov, ‘The Suede Jacket’ by Stanislav Stratiev, and ‘Five women in identical dresses’ by Alan Ball.

 

For 15 years Boil Banov has been a Director of the “Ivan Dimov” Drama and Puppet Theater - Haskovo

 

He was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture in the caretaker government on 14 August 2014.

 

By order of 11 November 2014 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

 

Banov was elected Minister of Culture on May 4, 2017 by the 44 rd National Assembly.
