RUMEN PORODZANOV - Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry

Porodzanov was born on 17 August 1964. He holds a Master’s degree in Agrarian Business, Economics and Management and a Master’s degree in Defence Industry, Economics and Management from the University of National and World Economy. Mr. Rumen Porodzanov has specialized in public finance, public management, and structural reforms at the Joint Vienna Institute, Austria and the USA.

 

Porodzanov is an officer with an extensive experience at the Ministry of Finance. From 1992 to 1995 he was an expert at the Special Activities Funding Division, responsible for the finance of companies in the defence sector and until August 2001 he was head of the Finance, Agriculture, Trade and Services Division of the Ministry of Finance. From 2001 to 2009 he served as director of the Real Sector Finance Directorate of the Ministry.

 

From August 2009 to March 2011 Porodzanov was chief of staff of the Minister of Finance until September 2013; he takes the position of Executive Director of the State Agriculture Fund.

 

In 2014 Porodzanov was appointed Caretaker Minister of Finance in the cabinet of Prof. Georgi Bliznashki.

 

On November 27, 2014, the Managing Board of SF "Agriculture" unanimously elected Rumen Porozhanov for Executive Director of the institution.

 

Porodzanov was elected Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry on May 4, 2017 by the 44 rd National Assembly.
