21.03.2018

The social dimension of the European Union should be strengthened and social cohesion accelerated. This was emphasized by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at a press conference after the Tripartite Social Summit for Growth and Employment in Brussels, which gathered the leaders of the European institutions and the European social partners. Borissov pointed out that this is the common position of the participants at the meeting, who previously discussed the main challenges for achieving higher social standards in Europe.

The Prime Minister said that active work on improving economic growth should continue because it also entails improvement in the well-being of European citizens. “This means having a highly competitive social market economy, full employment, and social progress,” Borissov said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that the Bulgarian Presidency will continue to work actively on the important legislative proposals in the field of employment and social policy. Our goal is to make the necessary progress. “We are ready to start in a timely manner and prioritize the analysis of the new initiatives of the European Commission,”  Borissov said.
