PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV HAD A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH HIS BRITISH COLLEAGUE BORIS JOHNSON

The main topic of the telephone conversation between Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was the extremely good cooperation in the area of security. The conversation, which was requested by the British Prime Minister, was focused on the large number of successful joint operations in the fight against crime and drug trafficking. We must continue to work on these areas, said Prime Minister Borissov. According to him, another important area of cooperation, that needs effort in its development, is education. The two Prime Ministers also agreed on the importance of protecting Europe’s external borders. 

 

On the topic of Brexit, Prime Minister Borissov pointed out that our state would do anything possible for a deal to be reached, which, according to the Bulgarian Prime Minister, would be good for everyone. Prime Minister Borissov noted, that there are a lot of Bulgarian citizens, living in the United Kingdom and at the same time many British people live in our country. This, in his words, enriches both societies.

 

During the conversation Prime Minister Borissov put an emphasis on the importance of the Balkans and Southeast Europe. The Bulgarian Prime Minister noted, that next year our state and the Republic of North Macedonia are to co-chair the Berlin Process, for which the British Prime Minister will receive an invitation. 

 

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on his part, congratulated Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on the way he governs the country and for the results of the European elections. Johnson invited Prime Minster Borissov to visit the United Kingdom. The Bulgarian Prime Minister also invited his British colleague to visit our country.
