12.06.2018

Prime Minister Borissov spoke in Tel Aviv with David Harris, Chief Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee.

"The salvation of Bulgarian Jews is an unprecedented fact in world history - no Jew from Bulgaria has been sent to the death camps. We are proud of this fact," Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said during his meeting with the Chief Executive Director of the American Jewish Committee David Harris. In 2018, the 75th Anniversary of the salvation of Bulgarian Jews is marked.

Prime Minister Borissov underlined that today Bulgaria continues to fight against all kinds of intolerance, xenophobia and hate speech, including under the conditions of intense migratory pressure on the country. He pointed out that the Bulgarian government is closely monitoring problems related to racism, racial discrimination, and intolerance.

Borissov informed David Harris about Bulgaria's engagements in its role of rotating Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of this year and pointed out that the key word for dialogue is peace. The two also discussed the bilateral relations and Bulgaria's contribution to the stabilization and sustainable development of the Balkans.

David Harris in turn emphasized that the Committee enjoys a great partnership with Bulgaria and personally with Prime Minister Borissov.
