Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, who is on official visit to Bulgaria. They highlighted the excellent bilateral cooperation and welcomed the 100th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Poland.
During the meeting, intensive political dialogue at all levels was also noted, which contributes to the constructive interaction and similar positions of Bulgaria and Poland on a number of issues from the European and international agenda. "Our countries share similar positions on the function of the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy, which are key for the EU as a whole, as well as an important tool for growth, competitiveness, and job creation," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. He added that Poland is a significant partner for Bulgaria in the field of trade and investment and expressed confidence that this cooperation will continue to deepen.
Prime Minister Borissov and Polish President Andrzej Duda also voiced concern over the tensions between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in the Azov Sea. "It is in the interest of all that tension is overcome by dialogue," stated Borissov. He pointed out that Poland is an important security factor in Europe and a close ally in NATO. "We have established good cooperation in the defence field, which takes place within the EU, NATO and bilaterally," added the Bulgarian Prime Minister.
