The construction of corridors 4, 8 and 10 was discussed by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti in London. The Prime Minister is in the British capital to participate at an investment forum dedicated to the countries of the Western Balkans organized by the financial institution.

Boyko Borissov underlined the importance of infrastructure links between the Western Balkan countries and other European countries as a precondition for successful development across the continent. “For the economic potential and prosperity of the region to be developed, for Europe to be stable and secure, it is necessary to have a connection between the Western Balkan countries, the region and the neighboring EU countries,” the Bulgarian Prime Minister said and added that only this way the real benefits of the cooperation can be felt. He noted that more investments, jobs and good cross-border cooperation are needed in the region, aimed at improving people's lives. This will also be the main topic of the forthcoming meeting of EU leaders and partners from the Western Balkans in Sofia on 17 May.

Borissov welcomed the activities of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the region, which is one of the largest investors there and plays an important role in the negotiation of cross-border infrastructure projects aimed at increasing trade and competitiveness.
