PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV: MILITARY PROJECTS SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE AND COMPATIBLE WITH NATO

09.08.2018

Our servicemen are among the best, they need to have even better equipment, and that's something we are working on, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who today attended the closing of the multinational joint training "PLATINUM LION 2018" at the "Novo Selo" training facility. The Prime Minister reminded of the projects for ships, land-based machinery, and the replacement of the vessels for our aviation, which requires several billions. According to him, it is important to purchase what is effective, decently-priced, and compatible with NATO.

“With this joint base, we enable not only the Balkans, but also the Black Sea region to carry out exercises, to prepare for deterrence, for defense, and for a variety of other operations. The mentality of fighting each other is transforming into a common way of thinking, i.e. to know how prepared each of us is and to build jointly the defense system in the Balkans and the region,” the Prime Minister added.

In response to a question from the media, Prime Minister Borissov brought attention to how much money is allocated to the development of Bulgarian municipalities. Yesterday, the Mayor of Sopot was at the Council of Ministers and personally thanked the Prime Minister for the state assistance for the municipality. The Prime Minister noted that the “Antim” Wing of the “Troyan” Monastery, which is a symbol of Troyan, will soon be completely renovated, while money for the city infrastructure has also been allocated separately. There is not a thing in Gotse Deltchev that has not been done, Borissov said, adding that funds have also been made available for the underground in the capital city, as well as for cultural and urban infrastructure in Plovdiv. According to Borissov, it is natural that the largest amount of funds would go to places with the largest number of residents.

Prompted to comment on the words of Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev regarding the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie uprising, Prime Minister Borissov reminded that with his colleague Zaev they jointly celebrated the 115th anniversary of the uprising in Blagoevgrad. "I let everyone judge their own words, it is at their own expense. Whether he said it intentionally or unintentionally, it is at his own expense. Because when he comes to the EU and we also have to give our consent, we will remember these things. It is my advice for everyone to be more careful," Prime Minister Borissov said.
