Kalin Stoyanov - Minister of Interior

Born on 28 April 1981.

2008 – obtained MA in Law from the Burgas Free University.

Started his service at the Ministry of Interior in 2003, following a BA from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior.

He has undergone specialized trainings on combatting terrorism, illegal migration, trafficking in human beings, illegal trade in arms, counterfeiting, etc. He has completed leadership courses, including at the International Law Enforcement Academy, Budapest, Hungary.

 

Professional background:

Appointed as Minister of Interior in the Interim Government, led by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, on April 9th, 2024, by President’s Decree.

Appointed Minister of Interior on 06 June 2023.

31 May 2021 - 5 June 2023 - Director of General Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime /GDCOC/

2018 - 31 May 2021 - Head of Special Operations Department at the General Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime

2016 - 2018 - Head of Police Station in the town of Primorsko, Regional Directorate of Interior in Burgas

2011 - 2016 - Police officer at the Special Operations Department of GDCOC /between 2013 and 2015 the unit was with the State Agency for National Security/

2009 - 2011 - Police officer at the Regional Department for Combatting Organized Crime in Burgas and a member of the Regional Committee against Trafficking in Human Beings

2003 - 2009 - Police officer at the Financial Police Department at the Regional Directorate of Interior in Burgas.

 

In his professional career, he has received numerous awards by the Minister of Interior, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior and the Chairperson of the State Agency for National Security. He is a laureate of the international award 40 under 40 and of two collective awards – from the US Secret Service and from Europol.
