PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV PARTICIPATED IN THE OFFICIAL CEREMONY MARKING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF THE FORMER CONCENTRATION CAMP AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU

27.01.2020

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's participation in the official ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the former concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau began.

According to the Bulgarian Prime Minister, we must all remember the responsibility we bear to prevent such tragedies as the Holocaust from ever happening again. Both the glorious and the tragic episodes of the past oblige us to safeguard the Holocaust's history and to not allow for it to be changed or for the suffering of the people during the Second World War, including in Bulgaria, to be diminished.

Prime Minister Borissov is certain that the Bulgarian society, and especially the younger generation, has the right to be proud of the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews. It is a message to the modern society for tolerance, benevolence and philanthropy among people of different ethnicities, religions and cultures. This is because respect for and protection of human rights is a prerequisite for peace and progress and is not a subject of political compromise.

Together with other leaders from all over the world, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will take part in the commemorative celebration at the Death Gate in Auschwitz-Birkenau and honor the memory.
