Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov in Vienna: Bulgaria works energetically for connectivity in Eastern Europe

13.11.2023

“Bulgaria continues to work energetically with neighbor countries to develop transport, energy and digital connectivity. To strengthen connectivity between countries we must complete Corridor 8. It will ensure development along the East-West axis and in addition will connect to the other routes in Eastern Europe.” This is what Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov said at the 20th Jubilee Vienna Economic Forum – Vienna Future Dialog 2023. The Prime Minister participated in the panel discussion “Building economic cooperation in difficult times” together with Paolo Gentiloni, European Commissioner for Economy; Dimitar Kovachevski, Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia; Albin Kurti, Prime Minister of Kosovo; Dumitru Alaiba, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova; and Nik Gjeloshaj, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro.

Acad. Nikolai Denkov noted the ongoing work to connect the main northern Greek seaports of Thessaloniki, Kavala and Alexandroupolis with the Bulgarian ports on the Black Sea and the Danube River. “The construction of the proper infrastructure will help the development of the entire Balkan region and will bring benefits to people and businesses,” the Prime Minister said further. He added that there is success where the countries have realized that it is better to work together than to compete against one another.

Good connectivity in Eastern Europe will bring many benefits to all European citizens. “Europe is an example of a multicultural society which should be appreciated every day,“ Acad. Nikolai Denkov noted. He appealed to his counterparts to work in synergy to overcome difficulties and turn problems into opportunities.
