Prime Minister Galab Donev meets Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic

Prime Minister Galab Donev met Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic, who is on a state visit to Sofia. At the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Galab Donev in honor of the distinguished guest, the Prime Minister emphasized the active cooperation at all levels between Bulgaria and Greece and the regular political dialogue that we maintain both on a bilateral basis and multilaterally. “A cursory retrospection confirms that in our modern history there has not been such a fruitful period in the relations between Bulgaria and Greece as we are currently experiencing. Our strategic partnership contributes definitively to stability in the entire region of South-Eastern Europe”, the Prime Minister noted.

 

In the course of the discussion, Prime Minister Galab Donev highlighted the benefits of bilateral economic cooperation, not only for the citizens of Bulgaria and Greece, but also for the entire region. In his words, the fuel and energy prices crisis and risks that arise from the war in Ukraine, have clearly shown the importance of economic integration between the two countries. The Prime Minister pointed out that win-win energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece is of strategic importance for the European Union. Galab Donev gave as an example the diversification ensured by the interconnector where the Caretaker Government played a key role in the completion of the Bulgarian section.

 

At their meeting Prime Minister Galab Donev and President Katerina Sakellaropoulou discussed cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece in a number of areas of mutual interest, such as culture and education and tourism and infrastructure connectivity.
