Prime Minister Kiril Petkov meets Charles Michel, President of the European Council; and Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President of the European Commission

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov met with the President of the European Council Charles Michel and with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis within his first working visit to Brussels. Earlier in the day Prime Minister Petkov talked with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

 

The high prices of energy resources were the focus of the meeting of the Bulgarian Prime Minister with the President of the European Council. Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and President Charles Michel agreed that a common coordinated European approach is needed so as to cope with the emergency situation. In the course of the discussion Bulgaria’s Prime Minister confirmed the country’s aspiration to join the Schengen Area.

 

During his meeting with the Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis Prime Minister Kiril Petkov discussed the national Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).

 

Members of the Prime Minister’s delegation in Brussels were: Assen Vassilev, Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Minister of Finance; Teodora Genchovska, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Lena Borislavova, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office and Spokesperson for the Government; and the Permanent Representatives of the Republic of Bulgaria to the EU and NATO.
