Prime Minister Kiril Petkov meets with Minister of State for European Affairs of the French Republic Clément Beaune

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov met with the Minister of State for European Affairs of the French Republic Clément Beaune. They discussed the priorities of the French Presidency (1 January-30 June 2022) of the Council of the European Union. Prime Minister Petkov reaffirmed Bulgaria’s willingness to take an active part in the common European efforts to protect the external borders of the Community, rule of law and economic reforms. Mr. Petkov and Mr. Beaune agreed on the importance of the European Union’s measures to overcome the energy crisis.

 

Clément Beaune assured that France highly appreciates Bulgaria’s efforts in the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU and the development of good neighborly relations. For his part, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov briefed the French Minister of State on the main priorities of the new Bulgarian government which can draw on the French experience in sectors such as digitalization. The Prime Minister also stressed the desire for closer cooperation between Bulgaria and France, in the interests of the two nations.
