We must be taking more action instead of talking. In order to address problems such as the global warming, every state should be committed to the causes, stated the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Together with state and government leaders from around the world, he took part in the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 5th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“The decision of the FIDE leadership, for Bulgaria to be the hosting country is not accidental. Recently, your country has proved itself to have become a great chess nation. Although a small country, Bulgaria has two world-class chess players - Veselin Topalov and Antoaneta Stefanova. No other country has in recent times shown such results – two world champions. This shows that the Government has paid great attention to the development and promotion of this sport”, said the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov after signing the contract for the host match in the presence of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

A major priority for the European Union is the economy and tackling the challenges of the economic crisis, which is also a major challenge for Bulgaria. That view was shared between the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy. The President of the EC was on a brief working visit upon the invitation of the Bulgarian Prime Minister.

From 2011 Bulgaria will give an annual contribution of € 20 000 to the Global Fund supporting the struggle of developing countries with climate changes, the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has announced after the Second working session of the European Council in Brussels. Our country will make its first contribution in 2011, since the budget for next year has already been passed by the Bulgarian Parliament.
