Rumen Porozhanov: Overoptimistic revenue targets and increased government spending during the first seven months of the year are the main problem of public finances
20 August 2014

“Planning budget revenue targets for 2014, which will not be met within the adopted law, and increased spending for the first seven months of the year are the main problem of public finances at this stage”, Finance Minister Rumen Porozhanov said at a press conference after the meeting of the Council of Ministers during which the government was introduced to a report on the cash execution of the State Budget and the main indicators of the consolidated fiscal program (CFP) from the beginning of the year until July 31st.

The discrepancy between revenue planning and execution directly affects CFP ,  Porozhanov said. CFP deficit at the end of July was BGN 1, 147.2 million, formed as a result of a State Budget deficit of BGN 647 million and EU funds deficit in the amount of BGN 499.7 million. In comparison, the deficit for the same period of last year was BGN 167 million.
