The Prime Minister and World Bank Country Director for Central Europe and the Baltic Countries Mamta Murthi discussed cooperation opportunities
Prime Minister Boyko Borisov met with World Bank Country Director for Central Europe and Baltic countries Mamta Murthi, who is in Bulgaria to discuss opportunities for support from the international financial institutions for enhancing economic growth in Bulgaria. The visit is in the context of the preparation of the Bulgaria Systematic Country Diagnostic report of the World Bank.
Bulgaria’s strength lies in consolidating everyone’s efforts and working towards success of the country, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said at the traditional meeting of government and business
“We are making great efforts to collect revenue. The primary task of authorities is to combat VAT fraud, tax evasion and the informal sector. If we collect up to BGN 1 billion more, we will be able to do a lot of work”, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said at the ninth meeting of government and business. He said that every Wednesday he met representatives of revenue institutions, prosecutors, investigators and the Finance Minister to discuss the fight against smuggling and the grey economy, and the implementation of revenue. The Prime Minister concluded that he was at this point optimistic and expected higher revenue this year - BGN 600-700 million up to BGN 1 billion more compared to last year.
