“As Prime Minister, I made a commitment to make the necessary cuts, so that we can give a Christmas bonus of BGN 40 to pensioners with pensions of up to BGN 286, which is the poverty line”, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced after a meeting with Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov. The Prime Minister pointed out that the decision would affect about 1.3 million pensioners, and its implementation would require BGN 50 million. “This is not a small amount of money in this financial crisis. But when, as a result of that disastrous governance, we allocate billions to rescue banks, pensioners are right to ask how they would celebrate Christmas. We have always said that they deserve it”, Borissov said.
