Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Chancellor Merkel discussed the problem during the Prime Minister's visit to Berlin
Germany lends a helping hand to Bulgaria to resolve the complex situation around South Stream. This emerged after a meeting between Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in the Chancellery in Berlin. Merkel pointed out that she would task experts and lawyers to assess the legal situation around South Stream. Ahead of the European Council, Chancellor Merkel made a commitment, together with Bulgarian Prime Minister Borissov and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, to discuss further joint steps of Bulgaria and the European Commission in finding a solution to the issue.
In this tough economic climate Bulgaria needs support and Germany is determined to help with whatever it can, Angela Merkel said after the talks.
